I see climate  change as an exciting design challenge. Just the operation of our buildings alone is responsible for almost half of our  electricity consumption and consequently a huge chunk of our carbon footprint. Reducing heating and cooling loads is largely the job of the building envelope and therefore in the realm of the architect. That means those of us involved in architectural design have the opportunity to be a big part of the solution to the pre-eminent problem of our times just by designing awesome building envelopes…
